York University Student Government Elections wrap up for 2025-2026

York University's annual winter student government elections concluded this spring, with students across the Keele, Glendon and Markham campuses casting their ballots for their 19 college and Faculty student governments. Voting took place in March and April and was administered through YU Connect.

More than 200 new student leaders were elected.

Impact the Student Journey

On April 1, What Black History Means to Us was an evening of reflection, dialogue and community at York. Students, alumni, staff and community members gathered for a panel and performances exploring Black history, identity and lived experiences, followed by networking and connection.

The Vari Hall Kiosk had an excellent Winter semester, including celebrating the Lunar New Year, passive events like "Take a Compliment, Leave a Compliment," and assisting students and visitors across campus. 

The Kiosk had 4,127 winter term interactions!

Students voted on a referendum put forward by WUSC Glendon, dedicated to providing young refugees with pathways to resettlement through higher education. The Student Refugee Program provides a refugee student with one year of fully funded sponsorship, supporting their transition to life in Canada.

The referendum was passed with 165 yes votes, 9 no votes and 1 abstention.

A&R Hosts 7th Annual WGLSC - "HER GAME, HER STORY"

A&R hosted its annual Women & Girls Leadership and Sport Conference, which continues to lead the way in advancing gender equity and empowering women in sport.

The theme Her Game, Her Story centred on storytelling and the avenues available to student-athletes after their playing careers.
