Through York’s Financial Aid, Awards and Scholarships application (FAAS App), students will be able to:

  • view and apply for available scholarships, awards and bursaries;
  • be automatically matched to scholarships, awards and bursaries based on information you provide and your academic qualifications;
  • track award applications;
  • view a summary of your FAAS funding through this platform

What are your next steps?

  1. Log-in to the FAAS App with your Passport York ID.
  2. Follow the instructions to create your Student Profile. This profile will help you be considered and matched for various award opportunities. You will be asked to provide: personal details, extracurriculars, research and/or financial information, where applicable.

    Note: Based on your Student Profile, opportunities relevant to you will be displayed. You will be given automatic consideration for some of the awards you are matched with and other opportunities will require you to complete an application.
  3. In September, check back to complete and submit your applications for awards that require additional supplementary information. Don’t miss out on new awards that are added to the platform throughout the school year.
  4. Log-in throughout the school year to review your application status and any next steps. You will also receive updates about the FAAS funding you will receive through this platform.
  5. Check back often to keep your profile up-to-date.

What’s new through the FAAS App?

Through the FAAS App, students will be able to:

  • Submit supporting documents, such as reference letters, personal statements or nominations, for awards, scholarships and bursaries;
  • Accept the required terms and conditions of the award;
  • Submit thank you letters

We're excited to make the FAAS App available to students! York is one of the first universities in Canada to implement a sophisticated system that streamlines the way students access financial aid, awards and scholarships. With this launch, you may notice changes as you use the system. This is to ensure we continue to improve and enhance functionality for students. If you experience technical difficulties logging in through Passport York or need to report an issue, please contact AskIT@yorku.ca. If you have questions about the FAAS App, contact faas@yorku.ca for support.

Frequently Asked Questions

There’s a lot to consider as you plan your next steps. Here’s how to get started:

Please note that the entrance awards application (for both domestic and international applicants) is only available for the September admission cycle.

  • If you are a currently enrolled York University student, you can complete the FAAS application.  You must have submitted the Student Profile and Need Assessment for the current study period before you can proceed with applying for funding opportunities.

  • Once you have submitted the Student Profile, you will be able to review, update and resubmit the profile as needed (i.e. to enter a new Need Assessment or to update the engagement section to reflect the most recent volunteer/community work). Please note that to be eligible for awards that consider financial need, a new Need Assessment is required for each application/study period.

  • For Graduate students, that would be for Fall, Winter and Summer. For Undergraduate students, that would be Fall/Winter and/or Summer (if applicable).

SCS students are not eligible for funding through FAAS. Explore your options by visiting the SCS Funding page.

The FAAS application opens on August 1 for Fall/Winter awards. To be considered for funding for the Fall/Winter 2026-2027 academic year, make sure you complete your Student Profile and submit the required Need Assessment(s) by the deadlines below:

Undergraduate Students

  • You’re encouraged to submit by October 15, 2026, to be considered for funding opportunities that do not require additional information.

  • York University Undergraduate Bursary: Submit your Student Profile and Fall/Winter 2026–2027 Need Assessment by February 15, 2027.

Graduate Students

  • Faculty of Graduate Studies Bursary Program: Submit your Student Profile and both Fall and Winter Need Assessments by February 1, 2027.

All students (graduate and undergraduate) are encouraged to monitor the Undergraduate Funding Opportunities or Graduate Funding Opportunities (whichever applies) and Draft Applications sections in the FAAS portal throughout the study period, as new application-based funding opportunities are made available throughout the academic year.
