- Visit the YU-card website and sign in with your Passport York to begin your application.
- Once you have signed in, upload a passport-style photo of yourself, and a copy of your government issued ID for verification.
- Wait for your photo to be approved.
- Once approved, you will be enjoy access to services on campus, such as the library, recreation facilities, exams, food services, shopping and more.
The University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP) card is for international students to receive medical care in Canada. International undergraduate students who are registered for courses are automatically enrolled in UHIP, and the cards will be sent directly to your York email. Please check your junk or spam folders if you haven’t yet received a notification. York students get automatic access to a Google Apps account (Gmail, Calendar, Drive) when they activate their Passport York (PPY) via Manage My Services. Head to yorku.ca/google for detailed instructions.
Duo2FA (Two Factor Authentication) is required for all students, staff and faculty to promote a safer online environment at York University. With Duo2FA, you are helping keep yourself and the York community safe from cybercrime. Head to the UIT website for detailed instructions on how to download Duo to your devices.

There are many clubs and organizations for you to choose from on campus! Browse the full list on YU Connect, the online hub for all co-curricular activities at York. Undergraduate students have an assigned date and time to begin their enrolment process. For many new students, enrolment begins at the enrolment appointment. Please check your enrolment access date to see when you can access the Registration and Enrolment Module where you can sign up for the courses you plan on taking this term.

You can track your progress toward your degree using our online self-serve tool the Degree Progress Report. The report will show you what you have completed, what you need to complete and what is in progress. You can manage your course load and find course options by speaking to Academic Advising or accessing resources from the Learning Commons to help with time management and balancing your workload.
York must confirm your enrolment before the National Student Loan Service Centre (NSLSC) can release your OSAP funding. Your enrolment will be confirmed electronically if you’re registered in a full-time or part-time course load and have applied for OSAP.
It is important to check that you’ve submitted all your OSAP documents – you can find the list of what’s needed under the Required Documents webpage. It can take up to six weeks to review your documents and up to 15 days to confirm your enrolment. Once your OSAP status is confirmed, it can take 7-10 business days for the NSLSC to release your funds. For more information on this process, please visit the Registration Status webpage.
If your confirmation of enrolment hasn’t been completed within 15 days of your term start date, you should first check that you are registered in the required minimum course load as you reported on your OSAP application. If there’s a change in your course load, please submit a Change Request Form.

For students on the Keele Campus, Student Counselling, Health & Well-being (SCHW) provides a range of services to support students with managing the demands of life at university. You can go to them for one-on-one counselling, emergency support, skills workshops and more.
Students enrolled at Glendon Campus can access bilingual, one-on-one counselling virtually and in-person at the Accessibility, Well-Being and Counselling (AWC) Centre.

The transition into university can be stressful. There are many free resources on campus built to support you. If you need some practical guidance, Learning Skills Services (LSS) offer resources, such as worksheets to help you stay on track. If you need to talk to someone, Student Counselling, Health & Well-being (SCHW) offers individual counselling and wellness skills workshops.
Here are some great tips from your fellow Lions:
- Join a study group to help you stay on track.
- Make a schedule and stick to it! Doing a little bit of work a few times a week is much more manageable than doing a lot of work all at once.
- Find your ideal study spot to minimize distractions and allow you to stay focused.
- Treat yourself! Incentives can help keep you going while studying so make sure to reward yourself for working hard.
- Use a to-do list to help you prioritize tasks and manage time. This will help you avoid feeling overwhelmed.

Book group study rooms, quiet study spaces and online-class friendly areas through the York University Libraries website.
As a new student, registering with Student Accessibility Services (SAS) is a simple three-step process. To request accommodation for your disability, submit your disability-related documents, log into the SAS portal to complete your registration questionnaire and connect with an accessibility counselor. You will find detailed instructions, registration deadlines and information on Student Accessibility Services.
Your registration deposit is part of your tuition fees and is a one-time payment made during your first academic session. This payment will give you access to services such as receiving financial aid, accessing your courses online, on-campus facilities and more.
Undergraduate students taking courses in the fall and winter terms will be required to pay their fees over two terms, once in September and once in January. New, incoming students will need to pay a new student registration deposit, which is due based on the date of your course enrolment. Check your Student Account Online Statement to see the current charges and due dates.
Domestic students: Pay fees directly to your student account through your bank, credit union or caisse populaire.
International students: Pay fees through CIBC’s International Student Pay option or Western Union’s WU GlobalPay for Students option.

You will not be removed from your courses, but you may be charged interest for late payments. Learn more about your student account and overdue balances.
A negative, or "credit,” balance means that you have overpaid your fees, and may be eligible for a refund. Learn more on the Refunds webpage.

Financial deadlines will update every academic term. You can find important sessional dates, deadlines and more on the Registrar’s Office Important Dates website.
Reference the Student Financial Services Refund Tables webpage. These dates will determine the portion of your tuition and fees that can be refunded.
If you receive OSAP, there may be an impact on your funding for withdrawing from a course. For information on OSAP academic progress requirements visit the I’ve Applied for OSAP webpage.
If you are experiencing circumstances that aren’t recognized in the standard OSAP assessment of financial need, you can request for your OSAP assessment to be reviewed. For a list of review/appeal forms, visit the OSAP forms webpage.
If you need to change your profile before program application deadlines, you can simply log back into the application and make your changes. If you need to change an application after a deadline date has passed, you can email bursary@yorku.ca directly.

The start of a new term can be exciting, but also stressful at times. Learn how to get ahead in your studies at York from our current students in this helpful YU Blog post about starting a successful term.
To confirm whether your tutorial will be running, contact your professor ahead of your first day. Tutorials scheduled before the first lecture may not take place on the first day of school.
Check your schedule a few days before the start of class. If the location is not posted, connect with your professor. Be mindful that if you signed up for an online class, it will not have a listed location.
If you can, visit campus before your first day of school. This will help you get a feel for the campus grounds, traffic, shortcuts and most importantly – find your classrooms. For extra guidance, use our interactive Campus maps.
Contact the department offering the course to see if there is a wait list, and what the possibilities are for getting into the class.
Make sure you understand the degree requirements and the qualifications to be accepted into the program to which you want to change. Connect with your academic advisor about a potential strategy to help you get into the program of choice. Visit the program change website for more details.
This means your professor has not made the module live yet. Connect with your professor for details.
Sometimes, there can be last-minute changes to your schedule. First, check your virtual schedule – this will be the most up-to-date. Also, verify through your York email to see if there was information shared by your professor about the upcoming class. If you don’t see any changes, connect with your professor to confirm.
Finding a list of important dates is made easy on York’s OSAP website. Here, you will be able to find important dates for each term and important steps to take when applying for funding.
When you are ready to begin your OSAP application, check that you’ve completed all the steps listed on the I’m Ready to Apply for OSAP page. To learn how to upload your documents, refer to Step 4: Upload your completed signature forms and any supporting documentation directly to your OSAP account.
