As we prepare to wind down for the holiday break, I hope you’re reflecting on any moments of success and pride that you experienced this past fall term. Whether you’re hoping to keep the momentum going next term or getting ready to refocus, make sure you take some time to rest and recharge, so you’re ready to take on the new term in January.

At this time of year, we also know it can or has been challenging for folks, so it is essential that we take care of our mental and physical health while also supporting one another. You are a valued member of the York University community, and we’re here to support you.

Important reminders for the break:

  • If you feel like you need extra mental health and wellness support over the break, you can access the Virtual Well-being Hub anytime for wellness content and resources to help you recharge.
  • Our student services will remain open until Tuesday, December 23 and reopen on Monday, January 5. Supports and services remain available for York students in Ontario through Good2Talk.
  • Students staying in residence will continue to have access to support through Residence Life. Any questions related to winter break residence registration can be directed to:
    • Keele Campus: housing_support@yorku.ca
    • Glendon Campus: residence@glendon.yorku.ca.
  • Please note, shuttle bus services between campuses will not be running during the break.
  • Food services provided through YU Eats will close during the break, but restaurants in York Lanes and the Quad may remain open. If you're in Markham, check out these local restaurants that may be open during the holidays.
  • Connect with SAVY, our student virtual assistant, at any time throughout the closure and all year long via eClass or across York’s websites.

If you’re planning on staying in Canada over the break, you might consider joining in on one of the several festive activities shared by York International. More details can be found on the Winter Holidays webpage.

Should you need it, emergency support is also available for international students throughout the closure. You have free access to 24/7 mental health support through GuardMe’s Student Support Program. Connect with a counsellor any time you need.
