An Inclusive Space
An Inclusive Space
At York University, the well-being and success of our students are of critical importance to us. Ours is a diverse and welcoming institution, and we’re thrilled to have you as a member of our community. I want to make note of just some of the ways that we’re centering and prioritizing your experience here at York.
- The Code of Student Rights & Responsibilities is an important resource that outlines what you’re entitled to and responsible for regarding academic honesty, conflict resolution, procedural fairness and more.
- You can look to our DEDI strategy to learn more about our commitment to maintaining an antiracist, equitable and respectful learning environment.
- As well, our Well-being Strategy outlines our work to ensure your academic journey is a safe and healthy one.
It is our shared responsibility to create and maintain a safe, inclusive and welcoming space. If you feel that any of York’s policies and frameworks are not being followed, there are resources you can consult and get additional support. Check out:
- Centre for Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion (CHREI), which provides confidential supports related to human rights, equity training and inclusion resources.
- Office of Student Community Relations (OSCR), which provides confidential crisis support and advice. Students can also file complaints under the Code of Student Rights & Responsibilities.
- York’s Ombudsperson also provides conflict resolution to ensure fairness in university policies, procedures and decision-making structures.
